Laughter and Tears

What is really happening when a young person gets touched by the Holy Spirit and starts laughing?

We once asked a fifteen year old girl about her experience - after we had heard her crying then laughing and then crying again, as the Holy Spirit touched her during a church meeting in Iligan City, Philippines.

She told us, "I saw a vision of my sister, and a demon had her tied up in chains."

That's why she was crying.

"Then I saw an angel come and fight the devil away from my sister," she continued.

That's when we saw her laughing.

"But then the devil managed to come back and tie her up again - and I saw the devil dragging her towards the edge of a waterfall. And at the bottom of the waterfall I saw flames of fire."

So her laughter turned to tears again.

"Then Jesus spoke to me and said, 'I want you to go and talk to your sister.'"

The girls were from a divorced family - which was unusual in the Philippines - so the girls were living separately.

So the next week, the 15-year old girl obediently went and visited her older sister to tell her about her vision, which would have taken some courage for the young girl.

After she came back, the young girl told us, "My sister cried, and we hugged each other."

This vision was a sign given by the Holy Spirit that Jesus truly is the Son of God and that He alone is the way to salvation from sin, death, the devil and from judgment.

Jesus gave His life for our sins, and God raised Him from the dead on the third day.

Now everyone who comes to God through Him will be saved.

Are you saved?
